WHAT IS LIFE ?

 Bible verse

Job  23:10

But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

There are three Biblical metaphors that teach us about God's view of life. (Life is a Test, life is a Trust, and life is Temporary) And if God the creator of heaven and earth, the author of life himself see life this way, we ought to see life through his lenses too so as to maximize our life here on earth. When you understand that these metaphors are what life is about. You will have a different view of life and make the most out of it. We will be looking at life as a Test today..

LIFE IS A TEST : God always test people's faith, character, obedience, love, integrity and loyalty through challenges just as we learnt yesterday . Character is developed and revealed by tests and challenges and all of life is a Test. You will always be tested and God constantly watches your response to people, problems, success, conflict, illness, disappointment and even the weather. He watches simple actions such as when we open a door for others, when you pick up a piece of trash or when you are polite towards servants, security, clerk, waiter, the poor etc. You may not know all the rest God will give you but most times, you will be tested by delayed promises, impossible problems, unanswered prayers, undeserved criticism, senseless tragedies etc.

God may test your faith through problems, test your hope by how you handle money and wealth and test your love through people.

Sometimes, It will seem as if God is far from you or silent, this is also a test. In 2nd Chronicles 32:31, (However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart. NLT) Hezekiah enjoyed a close fellowship with God but at a crucial point in his life, God left him alone to test his character, reveal his weakness and prepare him for more responsibility.

When you understand that life is a Test, you will realize that nothing is insignificant in your life. (Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.)

So everyday is an important day and every second is growth opportunity to deepen your character, develop your love for others and to depend on God. Every time you pass a test, God notices and will reward you on earth and in eternity. (To be continued Tomorrow)
