WHAT IS LIFE? PART3

For we were born but yesterday and know nothing. Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow.

Today is the final part in what is Life series. And we are looking at Life as a TEMPORAL ENTITY.

To make the most use of your life, you must never forget two truths. First, compared to eternity, life is extremely brief. Secondly, earth is only a temporary residence. You won't be here for ever, so don't get too attached. Psalms 39:4, Lord, help me to realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me to know that I am here for but a moment more.  (The Living Bible)

Repeatedly God's word compares life on earth to temporary living in a foreign country. We are aliens, pilgrims, foreigners, strangers, visitors, travelers etc on earth. Real believers know that there will be a far more life than just the few years we live on this planet. 2Corinthians 5:20So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”(NLT)

Your identity is in eternity and heaven is your homeland. Once you grasp this truth, you will stop worrying about having it all on earth. 1 Peter 2:11,Friends, this world is not your home, so don't make yourselves cozy in it. Don't indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. (The message Bible) 

The fact that the earth is not our ultimate home explains why we experience difficulties, sorrows and challenges. in order to keep us from becoming too attached to earth, God allows us to feel a significant amount of discontentment and dissatisfaction in life longings that will never be fulfilled. Because we are not supposed to completely feel at home on earth. That's why we often say rest in peace to people that die, because of all of life's toils, hardship, suffering and challenges end here on earth for those that live for God.

Father in the Name of Jesus, may I never forget that this world is not my home, therefore give me the grace to Labour and invest in things that are eternal. Amen
