LEGACY PART2
Bible verse
Proverbs 13:22(KJV)
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Yesterday a friend commented on our Post about( Ezekiel 18:2-4) What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.)
I am in no way saying children must or will definitely pay for the sins of their parents. But we will never undermine the consequences of evil generational pattern, today we will look at Biblical characters of our Fathers in the Bible. No matter how born again you are, some sins and patterns are just peculiar to your family and it takes discipline and the power of the Holy Spirit to break it. Being merely born again won't save you from evil family pattern or habits. The devil will is wise and cunny, he studies your family and find out bessetting sins that runs in the family. For some its Drinking, others is anger, pride, stealing, polygamy, love of women, and tempt you with it, so you can easily fall. But the advantage of being born again is having the power of God revealing those sins to us and giving us the power to overcome them.
Example of evil family pattern in the Bible looking at the family history of Abraham. He experienced delay in child bearing and same with Isaac and Jacob(in the life of Rachel who was the woman he really loved), Abraham first son Ishmael was rejected by God, Isaac's first son Esau was also rejected by God, Jacob's first Son Reuben was rejected and Joseph first son was also rejected. So nothing just happens. Pay close attention to your family and see a particular negative trend or positive trend. And the Spirit of God will begin to direct you on what to do.
The lesson in the Legacy series is that your life is a seed that create pattern for posterity. Your life does not end with you, others will continue where you stop. It pains me to see my children already exhibiting some generational characters I am fighting to overcome. Those characters that were inherent in my parents which I despised, only to later find myself exhibiting it and in my watch being passed to my children. It's sad to know that It will not happen when you die, in your life time, you will see your children saying and behaving just like you do . An officer shared a thread on Twitter on how they arrested a boy who stole his father's money and beat him up mercilessly. So when the uncle of the boy came to bail him, the police officer asked him why he is bailing the boy, is he supporting the evil he did? The uncle told the officer that, the boys dad did the same thing to their father when he was alive. And that he is bailing him just based on family ties. Not that he is supporting the boy. Truly a man reaps what he sows. (Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.)
And so No matter how bad your family has been God will always have a Remnant in every family, Tribe and nation . You can be the one to change the Narrative as I always say on the Altar of Prayer. Bishop Oyedepo said, what you don't want, you don't watch. There's no sin the mercies of God cannot cover. If David with all the atrocities he committed in the Bible became a man after God's heart and God went further to establish the covenant of mercies with him and his generation, your own family cannot be an exception. (Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.)
You are a game changer, a pacesetter and a trailblazer. You are the one to establish a fresh covenant with God on behalf of your family. Apostle Arome Osayi shared a testimony of how through his incessant Labour in prayers God broke the curses in his family line. What a legacy!
